Thursday, November 17 was an eventful night for Team Topic. Two of our agency’s projects from 2016 were recognized as finalists for the Cincinnati PRSA Blacksmith Awards, while Designer Taylor Hughes headed to Columbus for the Creative Best competition held by the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts. After the dust settled, we came away with three new additions to our trophy case!
Blacksmith Bronze Award in the Social Media – Facebook Category
Topic set out to improve Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s already strong presence on Facebook in the first quarter of 2016. Through weekly calls with the client and Topic’s social media expertise, the GSWO brand voice was adopted within a week and interaction started to increase week over week. Throughout three months, audience engagement (likes, comments and shares), reach and impressions grew on each Facebook post, compared to Q4 2015 and week over week in Q1 2016. Project Leader Emily Rossetti created a content strategy for the brand, while Art Director Kristen Pericleous made supporting graphics.
Blacksmith Bronze Award in the Media – Op-Ed Category
Materials testing laboratory Smithers Rapra asked Topic to leverage a speech given by Dean Tener, Business Development Manager, at the prestigious Clemson Tire Conference. Account Executive Sean O’Brien wrote a bylined article based on Tener’s presentation, which would then be pitched to tire industry publications. PR Director Cheryl Besl pitched the completed article, and it appeared in an online tire industry publication, Tire Technology International, on June 16. From the time the article was published, Smithers has received multiple customer inquiries about their tire testing expertise, and the article has been viewed by over 200 unique visitors.
Creative Best Competition Merit Award
Taylor Hughes, Designer, won the Merit Award at the Creative Best competition in Columbus with her beer bottle label she designed for Revolver Brewing Company. The brewery from Granbury, Texas contracted her work for the release of their .38 IPA beer. The design features a bullet streak and a sleek black and silver color scheme.
We are so proud of all our teammates for contributing to a successful 2016. We have completed some amazing projects this year, and it is wonderful to be recognized for our work and our dedication to our clients.
